The appointment of Hardik Pandya as Gujarat Titans skipper paid off for the franchise, with the all-rounder leading the team to the Indian Premier League title in his debut season. Not only did Hardik Pandya show outstanding leadership qualities, but he also led from the front playing both bat and ball. There were concerns about his ability to bowl in IPL 2022 but the 28-year-old crushed them all with some terrific performances, especially in the IPL Finals. Hardik Pandya finished the tournament with his most runs in a single IPL season, and to add to that he also took eight wickets.
Once the IPL is over and dusted off, the focus will once again shift to players’ international commitments. All eyes will be on Hardik Pandya on how he fares in India blue when they host South Africa for a five-game T20I series, starting June 9.
An important point to note is that Hardik Pandya has beaten higher in the order for GT than he usually does for Team India. And having done so well with the bat at the IPL 2022, it will be interesting to see where he comes in when India take on South Africa.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has explained where Hardik Pandya could play in the colors of the Indian team.
“I think he will probably be placed at five or six. Imagine, if India has a Hardik Pandya and a Rishabh pants at five or six. They can probably swap a bit – it will be an explosive combination. of 14 at 20. In six overs you can probably expect 100-120 runs. They’re capable of doing that. So it’s going to be an exciting aspect. It’s something I’m really looking forward to doing. – Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya beat at five or six,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports after GT’s IPL triumph.

This season, Hardik Pandya had his best season with the bat in the IPL, scoring 487 runs in 15 games with an average of 44.27 and a strike rate of 131.27.
His previous best points total in an IPL season was 402 points from 16 games for Mumbai Indians in the 2019 edition.
