In an exclusive chat with TAUT, we asked the makers why they didn’t choose to cast R. Madhavan in the Bollywood remake as well, given his huge popularity among Hindi-speaking audiences. Pushkar replied, “I think there was a casting balance that we were all looking for. Maddy (Madhavan) had also started Rocketry at that time, so there were logistical issues. I think that’s the cast that finally came together and we had two great performers at the end.”

Gayatri added that it turned out to be a better decision because they had the opportunity to work with new people. “I think it’s also like working with new people. We think 50% is the script and 50% is what the actors bring, so we have two very confident actors (Hrithik and Saif), so that was like the same script, but a different movie.”
