Two dead in fiery multi-vehicle accident in Wilmington


WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Two people were killed in a fiery multi-vehicle accident in Wilmington on Thursday night, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash was reported just after 8:15 p.m. near Lomita and Avalon boulevards.

Footage of the scene showed two badly damaged cars left charred. The roof of a car was completely torn off.

Witness video also showed huge flames ripping through one of the vehicles involved.

LAFD says one person was killed in each vehicle.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and found one person dead in one of the vehicles. Paramedics began to free one person from the other vehicle, but discovered they had also died.

The names of the two victims were withheld pending notification from their next of kin.

The cause of the crash was investigated.
