Trump’s team ‘shared video alleging MI6 supported Italian satellite’s attempt to steal 2020 election’

The White House released a video on YouTube claiming MI6 backed a plan to use an Italian satellite to transfer votes from Donald Trump to Joe Biden, it was alleged Thursday.

The video was reportedly released by White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to senior Justice Department officials, the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 uprising said.

It was just one of the bizarre conspiracy theories circulating around Washington as Mr Trump refused to accept that he had lost the presidential election.

The theory that the Italian contractors downloaded software to change votes was dismissed as “completely baseless” by Republican committee member Adam Kinzinger.

According to the speaker in the 20-minute video, the “mastermind” of the operation was running the operation “in conjunction with support from MI6, the CIA and the Leonardo Group”. [an Italian defence corporation]”.

Richard Donoghue, who served as assistant attorney general in the Trump administration in the final days of his presidency, and one of the recipients of the video, described it as “pure madness” and “blatantly absurd”.
