Ranveer Singh is known for captivating scenes with his powerful performance. But this time, he has asked his fans to contribute with him for a noble cause. Ranveer shared a story on his Instagram on Friday asking his followers to sign a petition calling for Indian Sign Language to be included as the 23rd official language in India’s constitution.
In his post, Ranveer wrote: “The petition link is live. Let’s make Indian Sign Language the 23rd official language under our Constitution. Support, sign, share.” Singh shared the story with the petition link.
Here is Ranveer’s story
For the inexperienced, the languages included in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution are Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit , Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
The petition supporting Singh has been filed by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), which has urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to take urgent steps to include Indian Sign Language (ISL) in the eighth list of the Indian Constitution. As the association seeks more support, they created a petition on Change.org asking people to help make this change possible. This is quite noble of Ranveer to support such a cause.
On the work front, Ranveer was last seen in Jayehsbhai Jordaar. Recently, the actor even won the ‘Most Loved Hindi Actor in South India’ trophy at the 10th South Indian International Movie Awards. Ranveer stated, “I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be able to do this, just to be an artist. I can do what I love to do for a living. It’s because of your love and acceptance, so thank you all. First and foremost, know you what i like most about our country is the diversity we have in our culture we are the most diverse country in the world every state has such richness and vibrancy in its culture and we as a people must and must to celebrate.” Singh will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus.
