Matt Cardona will undergo surgery to fix a torn bicep


Matt Cardona will be sidelined with a torn bicep after working out a match at GCW Downward Spiral last Saturday night.

He got injured fighting against Blake Christian. After the match, he noted that he thought he injured his arm while trying to catch a diving Christian.

The NWA World Heavyweight Champion announced today that he tore his bicep and will miss ring time due to surgery to repair the injury. He wrote the following: “I had an MRI today. The bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Unfortunately, some dates will have to be cancelled.

Cardona was scheduled to defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight title against Nick Aldis at the June 11 NWA Alwayz Ready pay-per-view event at the Knoxville Convention Center. The show will air on FITE TV.

The promotion will have to find a replacement for him. As of this writing, it’s unclear whether he will be stripped of the title.
