The Wichita Falls Police Department closed part of Fillmore Street for a few hours Tuesday morning after responding to a situation in the 2200 block of the street.
The WFPD arrived around 9am on Tuesday after it was reported that a man had been seen waving a gun. Police believe the man entered a flat at the back of the 2200 block of Fillmore and sealed off the area for public safety.
No gunshots were reported at the scene.
believed the man was barricaded in a room in the house and refused to leave.
Just before noon, police obtained an arrest warrant and the man was evacuated from the building and taken into custody.
Officers found a firearm and ammunition.
The man was charged with threatening terrorism – family member. Officers believed there was a dispute over rent payment.
