Kuminga battles through nerves, fires impressive first pitch originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
OAKLAND — An hour before Jonathan Kuminga threw the first pitch for Saturday’s game between the Giants and Athletics at the Coliseum, the Warriors’ sophomore attacker struggled with nerves.
But when the spotlights shone brightly on Saturday afternoon, Kuminga looked like an ace. He confidently strode up the mound and fired a first pitch that might have reached the bottom of the strike zone.
Shortly after his big moment on the mound, Kuminga jumped back on Twitter to review his effort.
Kuminga had the first pitch just weeks after teammate Steph Curry did the same at the Coliseum. However, Curry sent his throw way out of the attack zone and opened up to a bit of social media teasing from former Warriors teammate Juan Toscano-Anderson, who also recently threw the first pitch for an A game.
Kuminga will not hear any response from his efforts.
Truly an ace in the making.
