Japan won’t quit Sakhalin-2 project even if asked to, says trade minister

TOKYO: Japan will not quit the Sakhalin 2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) project even if asked to leave, Japan’s industry minister said on Tuesday.

The land for the project belongs to Russia, but the plant belongs to the Japanese government and companies, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Koichi Hagiuda told a parliamentary committee.
