India were held 4-4 by South Korea as they missed out on a place in the final
India’s men’s hockey team failed to qualify for the 2022 Asian Cup finals, after playing a thrilling 4-4 game with South Korea. The defending champions needed an outright victory to advance to the final, but instead they will now face Japan in the bronze medal game on Wednesday.
Even though India failed to reach the final, the team coached by former India skipper Sardar Singh can look forward to their match against South Korea, who topped the Super 4 points table. before their confrontation.
The Men in Blue have already faced Japan twice in the Hockey Asia Cup, losing 5-2 in the group stage match, but winning 2-1 in the Super 4 stage.

Malaysia’s 5-0 victory over Japan earlier in the day meant that an outright victory became a prerequisite for India to qualify for the summit clash.
India, Malaysia and Korea both finished with five points each in the Super 4 stage, but Birendra Lakra’s side fell behind on goal difference.
Nilam Sanjeep Xess (9th minute), Dipsan Tirkey (21st), Mahesh Sheshe Gowda (22nd) and Shakthivel Mareeswaran (37th) scored for India, while Korea scored through Jang Jonghyun (13th), Ji Woo Cheon ( 18th), Kim JungHoo (28th) and Jung Manjae (44th).

Korea will face Malaysia in the final on Wednesday, while India will face Japan in the third-fourth place ladder match.
