Canadian Formula 1 driver Nicholas Latifi will leave the Williams team at the end of the 2022 season, the British team announced on Friday. Williams confirmed the arrival of Thai-British driver Alexander Albon for next season, but did not announce a replacement for Latifi who joined the team in the 2020 season. Latifi has raced 55 Grands Prix with William taking a total of seven points. The 27-year-old finished 21st at the world championships last season and 17th the previous season.

Latifi, son of the owner of Williams’ sponsor Sofina, said he had fond memories of his time at the race outfit.

“Although together we didn’t achieve the results we hoped for, it has been a fantastic journey,” he said.
