CWG 2022: Nikhat Zareen defeats England’s Savannah Stubley in semi-finals, aims for gold


Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen reached the final of the women’s 50kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Saturday. Nikhat defeated England’s Savannah Alfia Stubley 5-0 in what was a one-sided bout.

This was another impressive show for Nikhat, who will be next in line for the gold medal.

Earlier, Indian boxers Amit Panghal (51kg) and Nitu Ghanghas (48kg) also reached the final.

In the quarter-finals, Nikhat defeated Wales’ Helen Jones in the women’s light flyweight category on Wednesday to advance to the semi-finals. She defeated her opponent 5-0. Before that, she tamed Mozambique’s Helena Bagao in an opening 50kg women’s match, which was won by RSC.
