Tokyo confirmed 2,362 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, down about 900 from the previous week and marking the 18th straight day with a week-over-week decline.
The capital reported 1,344 new cases on Sunday, the first time the daily tally has fallen below 2,000 since January 11.
