CM Punk Reportedly Not Returning to AEW, Contract Buyout Likely

On a recent audio show, Wade Keller reiterated AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. Speaking of the ROH world title match between Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli, Keller noted how Punk’s name was ruled out when Ian Riccaboni talked about the big names holding the title.

Keller also added that he doesn’t expect Punk to return and while nothing is set 100 percent in stone, things seem to be leaning towards a buyout of Punk’s contract.

“I think this is remarkable but not surprising [that] he ruled out CM Punk’s name because he was talking about some of the biggest names to have had the title,” Keller said. As I spoke to Jason Powell yesterday – I don’t expect CM Punk to wrestle in AEW again. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent sure, but everything points to some sort of takeover of his contract. We will eventually learn more about that situation.”
