In June, banks will remain closed for eight days
As June is about to begin, it’s time for a new list of holidays. In June, banks will remain closed for eight days, including six public holidays on Sundays and Saturdays. The Reserve Bank of India has prepared a list of public holidays in June, which will allow banks to remain closed for different reasons. During these public holidays, all branches of public, private, foreign, cooperative and regional banks remain closed.
The RBI classifies public holidays into three categories: public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and real-time gross settlement holidays, and the closing of bank accounts.
June has eight public holidays. Of these six are weekend vacations. There are two public holidays in June under the Public Holidays Act in the form of negotiable instruments. This could be a month with the fewest holidays this year.
Several holidays are decided on region-specific occasions and state-specific festivals. This is also true for the month of June. Thus, public holidays in the month of June may only be applicable in certain parts of the country. The two public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Public Holidays Act in June are region-specific.
